Synopsis:
Fausta is a young woman who lives with her mother in a slum on the outskirts of Lima. Her mother always reminds her that, as she was born in the years of terrorism by the Shining Path, when rapes were a matter of course, she was breastfed with the “milk of grief” and is therefore destined to contract the disease of the “teta asustada” (the “frightened nipple”), the disease of fear that steals the soul. This is why Fausta is unable to free herself from  her terror of men. The sudden death of her mother pushes her to face up to her fears and win her freedom.
