Spazio Scuola

The Spazio Scuola of the African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival consists in a series of initiatives dedicated to the schools, from film screenings for students to an active participation of teachers and students in special juries.

In 2018, over 2000 people between students and teachers took part in 6 matinées, from 21st to 24th March, at Auditorium San Fedele and Cinema Palestrina.

>>  I Am Not a Witch by Rungano Nyoni. Screening for middle school students.

>> Selection of African short films. Screening for high school students.

Other initiatives include:

> Memebership in special juries: the Teacher Jury and the Young Jury each assign a prize to the best African short films that promote an intercultural dialogue

> Workshops, exhibitions and meetings organized at the Festival Center, so that both students and teachers can take an active part in the Festival.

Spazio Università

The Spazio Università has been engaging students and professors from universities and advanced training schools in Milan for over a decade.

This year we’re renewing our collaboration with Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Università Statale, Università degli Studi Milano-Bicocca, IULM and in particular with:

>> Civica Scuola di Cinema “Luchino Visconti”, where the Bengali director Mostofa Sarwaar Farooki (No Bed of Roses) is holding a masterclass for the students on Thursday 22^nd March. 

>> Scuola Mohole – digital art and communication, whose students are engaged in the photo and video coverage of some events taking place during the Festival.

Audiovisual Media Policies: presentation of the Festival’s 28° edition, focusing on the films from the Extr’A section.

Thursday 22nd March

Lecture on Film Genres: screening of the African short film in competition Bolbol and q&a with the director Khedija Lemkecher

Friday 23rd March
Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia
Lecture on Film Histoy: screening of the African short film in competition Aya and meeting with the director Moufida Fedhila

Other initiatives include:

> Internships and volunteer work to become part of the Festival’s staff in the programming, translating and hosting activities.
