| Synopsis |
| The “car rapide”, the popular collective means of transport in Dakar, risks disappearing. Dakar needs more modern and safer means of transport. According to a new law, they would continue to circulate in the suburbs but not in the centre. The drivers and the apprentices are desperate, if the government eliminates them, what will happen to them? Ferrying us from one side of the city to the other, the “cars rapides” show us a reality in transformation. Many voices are being heard to say that the “car rapide” is an integral part of the panorama of the city and that it cannot be done away with . Even though they may not be so “rapide”… |

Tiziana Manfredi works in Italy and Africa and holds workshops on Relational Art for collective works in the social and educational fields. She also designs sets for cultural events, From 2006 to 2009 she was co-creator of the project “IMPOSSIBLE SITES - Arte pubblica e abilità diverse”, in Italy and Senegal and then presented at various Italian festivals. Dakarapide is the result of this experience.
Marco G. Lena was born in 1977 and graduated in Modern History from the University of Genoa, with a thesis on cultural anthropology entitled “Black identity and Afrocentrism”. In Senegal, he documented the public art project “IMPOSSIBLE SITES - Arte Pubblica e diversa abilità”. |
