Synopsis
The history of the independence of Africa and the difficult road towards to future told as a traditional griot would, through a moral tale. It is the 1960s. Siré and Nama marry and go to live in a cave, choosing a life of humility and prayer. But one day, a compassionate spirit is sent from heaven and offers to satisfy three wishes of Nama …
Daouda Coulibaly
Daouda Coulibaly is a young French-Malian director. After studying economics and a few years working on editing for TV, he decided to become a filmmaker. In 2009 he made his first short film, Il était une fois l’indépendance, inspired by an African folk tale.
