| Synopsis |
| The attempts by a young Muslim to overcome the frustration of a life without prospects or, how a delinquent from the outskirts of Tunis, who dreams of becoming a dancer, can become an extremist suicide bomber. The film offers one of the most original and in depth approaches by Arab cinema to the issue of terrorism, developing the ?unconventional? aspect of religious extremism that is highly appealing to young people lacking self-confidence and rejected by a society that has no respect for them. Young Bahta thus paradoxically expresses his right to exist in his martyrdom. |

| He was born in Sfax in 1945 and, after graduating from the INSAS in Brussels in 1972, initially worked as assistant director and co-screenwriter on many national and international productions. In 1986 he made his first feature film, L?homme de cendres, for which he was awarded one of the most prestigious prizes for the cinema in Africa, the Tanit D?Or at the Journ?es Cin?matographiques de Carthage. He teaches film and screenwriting at the Tunis . He is considered one of the greatest representatives of North African cinema. |
